So, I discovered that after a tiny spur-of-the-moment split for some nendoroid hair and faces, I could make an old would've-been BJD character !   As my luck would have it, though, after I put the hair with some leftover faces I had and called it good, the BJD head I initially wanted for the character popped up on my Facebook.  But nendoroid parts are considerably cheaper than BJD parts, soooo I'm totally trying to split two nendoroids and get a couple parts for 2 more nendolls! Which brings the nendoll count to like... 4 completed, 5 waiting on bodies, 3 in progress / waiting on parts, and another 3 in the brainstorming phase (see: waiting for the face maker to update with the appropriate eyes, lol). ...I will own as many nendolls as I do BJDs and it took me NO TIME AT ALL to reach this point, in comparison, ohmygodd .  At least I've started sewing! I have both of the Obitsu 11cm pattern books, and I'm waiting for the official Nendoll pattern book to release, ...

happy birbday

I finished the layaway on my Soom Yrie, and they're home now!!  I have some fur on the way to make them their proper wig. I might try to dig up some fabric to see if I can make their outfit (or try to get them into this Barbie/Sanrio top), but that'll be after I contain this mess I made while opening my mail. I've also placed a new order for nendoroid faces to make another batch of OCs! I have practically all of their hair (a few are still coming in the mail), so once May/June hits and I get their bodies, I'll just have to figure out clothes.  All in all, a good way to celebrate my birth month! ♥

we all know i don't like sewing

Image
I especially don't have the patience to sew for small dolls/figures, because holy cow . I certainly don't have the drive or motivation; even on a good day. So, to get these Nendoroid Dolls of mine properly clothed, I ordered some Azone Picco Neemo clothes! I should be seeing an odd amount of tops, bottoms, and shoes towards the end of the month that will hopefully  be a decent fit until GSC rolls out more fashion packs. It looks like anything meant for Fairyland Pukifee, or similar sized dolls, will be pretty big — unless that's the look you want to go for! Even Obitsu 11, and assuming Cu-poche, shoes are pretty big on them, too, but it looks like if you can stuff the shoes or give them socks, the Nendolls should be okay. I can say that some Monster High hoodies/jackets work well with the Nendoll bodies! I haven't tried any shirts, and the bottoms (a pair of school sports short-shorts) I have still hang off of them, but there is at least one thing they can we...

excited screaming + stressed screaming

Image
A Soom Yrie has been sitting in the Marketplace for a while and, while there are also a few Alks floating around, this one is in white skin and honestly  they're the same sculpt and I would like to get them off my wish list. So that's a layaway in progress. I'll finally have my little bird, Atrophia, after all this time!! aaaaaa -!!  But before I get too excited, I need to focus on getting my Mini Kai (temporarily named 'Glace') properly dressed. I maybe-sort of spent more time than I would like to admit on finding an adoptable design to base him off of, because my original plan didn't feel right. After some searching, I found this design by DA user Rinn-y that looked really cute and just what I was looking for!  Now to see if I can do it justice, hhh

what happened to "doll downsizing"

Image
I honestly don't know how I went from 4 MSDs to... 4 MSDs, but I did it. I'm not proud but I am impressed. So, yes, I totally impulse bought another MSD, and I spent a part of last week sewing things up for him. I'm really happy with how things turned out! Of course some parts aren't perfect but they could certainly be worse.  Pavlova is done! I've been working on his wig, ears, tail, and shirt for the past few days. 😤 He's an SQ Lab Hime (SQ03) on an Island Doll MSD body, and he's shelling an adopt I bought forever ago from FA user ghostblanketboy. (Swipe to see the design! ➡) . . #bjd #balljointeddoll #dollstagram #sqlabdoll A post shared by Enski (@token.enski) on Jun 17, 2018 at 1:29am PDT I'm hoping  that this will be the end of new, spontaneous doll purchases for the year (minus the two dolls I have on my wish list, if I ever get them). If I look or sound like I'm eyeing another doll, please stop me, haha!

this year's phrase is " we're wildin' "

Image
At least, I  feel like I'm going wild with these doll plans. I received my Flower and Junior Char about two weeks ago, and now they, my Soom Bygg, and my MNF Sl. Scar Breakaway are with my buddy tamakyuart to get repainted. I'm excited to see what she will do with them! The weather went from ☀ to⚡☔ but my latest addition made it in before the rain. This is Vai (or 'Vacious')! The body & wig aren't his, but he'll have his own, eventually-soon. 😚 . . #bjd #balljointeddoll #dollstagram #flowerandjunior #flowerandjuniorchar A post shared by Enski (@token.enski) on May 15, 2018 at 2:04pm PDT I also ordered a body for my Char during the Mirodoll sale, along with some small hooks and new elastic. Maybe by the time the body is made, the face-ups will be done.  And I think  my Switch Vian and Gokidoll Mini Kai are incoming.   I haven't gotten any tracking numbers, but I also haven't gotten any pink slips at my door or mail box, so I can ...

happy birthday to me, i have so many irons in the fire

Image
My birthday was last Thursday!   I spent the day mostly with my friends and a couple family members, and then on the weekend I had a sushi dinner with my family. I had a really fun time all around. Because of my birthday, the Incoming Doll list has grown to 3.   I didn't mean for this to happen, but one friend showed me pictures of Goki Doll's Mini Kai and then another friend asked if I wanted the doll head as a birthday present. I floundered for a day, made a poll to get ideas about which character of mine the doll should be, and got my answer. Sooo, that's happening towards the end of the month, I think! Thankfully, I have a body here that should work. I put dolls up for sale last week and I have a spare body to work with. Now I have to figure out their overall look/style (and whine about sewing, lol). I'm also trying to figure out a way to a certain K-Pop concert that's out of the country, but as dates close in I'm reluctantly accepting that I won...

spring cleaning ahead of schedule

Image
Trying to make some space on my shelves, and that means preparing dolls to give away or sell.   I've listed some of my resin dolls that I haven't been playing with or really thinking of on one social site, so my friends can see and maybe adopt them. I'm a bit more comfortable selling my Monster High dolls, but I'm not really a seller so I'll probably price them low. (Plus I need to see what clothes and accessories I still have.) I've been taking pictures of my resin dolls all day. While I was taking pictures, it was obvious to see which dolls I was still heavily bonding (bonded?) with and those I wasn't. Don't get me wrong, I love all my BJDs--which is why I can't honestly sell  them--but there are a few that I'm not loving as much as I used to.  So hopefully I can give them to friends that will enjoy them, or at the very least have them stay at my mother unit's house. (They are her grandchildren, after all, lol!)  The good thing ab...

new year, still on my doll nonsense

Image
Happy New Year! What sort of doll-related goals do we have?  The year has barely started and I've put one doll on layaway, and thinking about pre-ordering another. (As one does, of course.) The first doll is a Switch Vian , and the second one is a Flower and Junior Char .  Honestly, I'm less surprised that I'm ordering more than my budget can handle (& outside of my wishlist), and more surprised that I'm ordering SDs. I own two already, but I've been staying away from the size because they're big  and I don't know how to handle or take pictures of big dolls.  Not like I know how to take pictures, anyway, but, you know . I am being good, though, and basing them off of character designs I purchased in the past! Vian will be based off of Thrift , and Char will be based off of Vacious . I'm mostly using their color schemes and any designs/traits that stand out. So, to be ahead of the curve and save money, I'm designing and sewing outfits n...

i keep making up plans as i go

Image
The bad thing with having crafty friends is that you get more crafty because of them and it's a beautiful mess with too much planning and not really enough action, lol. So I have... many ideas for custom nendoroids and hybrids. One of them is an old character I made back in... high school? A catboy named Ranga. I split a nendoroid with a friend, and they'll be repainting the hair and hopefully one of the faces. Then it'll be my job to get an Obitsu body and make his outfit. (Of course I paired him with a friend's cat boy (who was drawn ages  ago), so I hope that I can make the both of them!)  Another idea is Neku Sakuraba from The World Ends With You . A glance at a TWEWY post and a short chat with a friend led me to a big need  to plan out a custom nendoroid for him.   I still have to figure out face plates for him, so he's very much in the planning phase. And then with my pre-orders of the casual dress Yuri on Ice nendoroids I would like to do s...

making nendoroid & obitsu connect

The Obitsuroid tutorials I find tend to include some sort of subtractive modifications, or items that aren't readily available to me (like the Revoltech joints). So here's a list of Obitsuroid examples that simulate the Nendoroid neck/head connector using items like foam, plastic, and cardboard: EVA foam - @reloaded_re (Twitter) EVA foam connector - sadlll (blog.naver) Paper & EVA foam - fnsdpa (blog.naver) (!Caution: The paper tag wears easily, so they switched to EVA foam) Plastic & thick cardboard - polarondol (tistory)

guess who made a cu-poche size guide

Image
I can feel myself getting in too deep, but I want to be organized about it. (I also blame a buddy of mine, who's going full steam ahead in nendoroid collecting and getting a bunch of re-ments and house/room kits.) So I made a list of accessories (clothes, items, etc.) that work with Cu-Poche, here . It's in a similar format as the Nendoroid one in the English Facebook group -- listing what's exactly to scale, off scale, and then additional bits. My main contribution to the list is the Monster High & Nendoroid mention! Here are some pictures of the Cu-poche bodies with MH items, and Gourai wearing Nendoroid bunny ears: I hope this list is helpful!

this was an 8am project but i thought tossing together a tutorial now would be okay

Image
I posted    some pictures on Instagram of my doll/figure project of the day: a cu-poche & nendoroid hybrid. (I don't see a lot of people use the term 'cuporoid' / 「キューポろいど」 (also! 「キュポろいど」  or 「きゅぽろいど」), unlike 'obitsuroid' /「オビツろいど」 , but it does yield results!) The mod itself is pretty easy to do, here are the tutorials I used as reference: rikunofotogalarie | キューポッシュえくすとら半袖体操服ボディxねんどろいどヘッド Hobby Search Blog | 着せかえシリーズ第1弾「キューポッシュえくすとら スクール水着ボディ」で遊ぼう! panda180 | How to make Cu-Poche - Nendoroid joint When it came to separating the joints, I used an X-Acto Knife to initially get a space between them, then either used a small flat head screwdriver or my fingers to gently pull them apart. Once I had them separated, I put them with their opposites. (The nendoroid joint (on the left) is from Nishinoya Yuu, while the cu-poche joint (on the right) is from Gourai.) I'm assuming one of the neck joints has been updated since the tutorials have bee...
